Hi. I'm Anujin Byambajav.

Aerial Image Analyst • GIS Specialist

I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a B.S. in Environmental Studies. I currently work at Aerial Information Systems, Inc. (AIS, Inc.), where I analyze aerial and satellite imagery, classify spatial features, and support large-scale geospatial data production.

My interests include environmental analysis, cartography, land-use mapping, and geospatial data visualization. This portfolio highlights my technical skills, GIS projects, and research experience.

I found mapping extremely fascinating because I believe that creating maps is another form of art. Looking at a map makes one think and see spatially. They make sense of things. It reveals patterns and relationships that one may not see from reading. During my senior year I went deeper into mapping world of ArcGIS. I've developed personal projects using ArcGIS Javascript SDK and related API's such as Calcite to build web apps.

Here are some of the applications that I use:

  • ArcGIS Javascript SDK
  • ArcGIS Pro
  • Calcite Design System
  • ArcGIS Online
  • ArcGIS StoryMaps

Research Experience

For the Spring semester of 2023, I worked as a research assistant for Dr. Youngs, an associate professor at CSUSB. She had been working for over 6 years on Grand Teton National Park, specifically Snake River. Her study highlighted the outdoor recreation and concessions, as well as the impact of World War II on the national park as it rose to a new level. I assisted Dr. Youngs in creating an ArcGIS StoryMap about Grand Teton NP's cultural and social history, its geographical events, and the pioneers and guides that contributed to the national park.

Here is an Javascript application that I created using ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript

Population Density Map of Mongolia in the year of 1990-2013

This application shows the population density of Mongolia in the year of 1990 to 2013. When the application starts, it shows the total 2013 population density of Mongolia rendered in DotDensityRenderer. Each dot represents 100 people and it is distributed randomly across the areas or in this case, the soums. Soums are the second level administrative division after aimags(provinces). It is similar to a county in the United States. There are 331 soums in Mongolia. On the right side, the chart displays the total population for each year in Mongolia. I queried the total population of soums in the layer using the statistic query by defining the statisticType property. The chart also allows the user to see the male, the female or both populations distinctively.

Here is my ArcGIS StoryMap that I created about Mongolia

This story map quickly introduces you to some of the beautiful destinations of Mongolia, traditional celebrations, and its nomadic culture.
